ISESCO Director General condemns "elections" held in Nagorno Karabakh
Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri issued statement in this regard

The Director General of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri issued a statement of protest on Armenia’s plan to hold elections on September 13th in the occupied Azerbaijani territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Statement says: “ISESCO deemed these elections at odds with the international law and with the respective resolutions of the UN Security Council, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as they are planned to be held in an occupied Azerbaijani territory where Armenia, as an Occupying Power, is not authorized to exercise any act of sovereignty”.

The Director General noted that the Organization condemned the systematic destruction of mosques, monuments and other civilizational landmarks by the Armenian forces, which occupy the territory, along with their attempts to blur the identity of the region and displace its population.

By the same token, ISESCO reiterated its solidarity with the Republic of Azerbaijan in its dispute with Armenia, and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s right to restore the occupied territory.

Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri also added that he welcomes President Ilham Aliyev’s policy, as well as cultural, scientific, educational, humanitarian and other projects implemented by the first Lady Mehriban Aliyeva.

Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri’s statement has also been published many Eastern countries.
