Azerbaijan’s Deputy FM, IEA Executive Director discuss potential cooperation within framework of COP29 

Paris will today host a high-level roundtable dedicated to the 28th and 29th sessions of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28 and COP29) at the headquarters of the International Energy Agency (IEA).

Yalchin Rafiyev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and COP29 Lead Negotiator representing Azerbaijan at the conference, met with Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Fatih Birol.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Yalchin Rafiyev praised Azerbaijan`s role as the host of COP29, viewing it as a testament to the trust placed in the country.

He emphasized that the Baku COP29 presents participating states with crucial decisions in the fight against climate change.

IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol congratulated Rafiyev on securing the hosting of COP29 in Azerbaijan, underlining that the world`s attention is focused on Baku today.

The meeting also explored potential cooperation within the framework of the COP29.
