Azerbaijan discloses number of reservoirs, canals destroyed by Armenians in Karabakh

Nine water reservoirs and 1200 km of irrigation canals have been destroyed during the 30-year occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenians.

Chingiz Abdullayev, advisor to the chairman of the State Water Resources Agency of Azerbaijan, gave the data at the conference "Reconstruction of water supply and drainage infrastructure in the Karabakh region" in Baku, AzVision.az reports.

During the period of occupation, Armenia has caused serious damage to the water infrastructure of Azerbaijan, the water bodies have been polluted, and the water resources have been used as a tool of political pressure, said Abdullayev.

He noted that in 2023, as part of the works to restore the water infrastructure in the liberated territories, new drinking water supply networks were put into operation in Lachin. The construction of the "Zaryslichay" pumping station and central reservoir was completed to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply to the city of Shusha.
