Sabina Aliyeva, Azerbaijan’s Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) and Şeref Malkoç, Chief Ombudsman of Türkiye met Tuesday with Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Ünal Üstel in Nicosia.
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel emphasized the importance of uniting the efforts of the three brotherly countries on all platforms, including the ombudsman institution. He said that TRNC, Türkiye and Azerbaijan should stick to the principle of “One nation, Three states”.
The head of government highly appreciated Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's call for the international recognition of the TRNC from the UN platform. He also highlighted the significance of the Organization of Turkic States' decision to grant observer status to the TRNC.
He also shared his impressions from his recent visit to Azerbaijan, adding that he would be returning to Baku on June 12 at the invitation of one of country’s political parties.
PM Üstel also expressed his gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and the New Azerbaijan Party for efforts aimed at supporting the rights of the Turkish Cypriots.
Ombudsman Sabina Aliyeva noted that the “Turkic states are stronger together.”
