The Azerbaijani vessel "Khojaly" has completed its maiden voyage, docking at the Portland port in the United States.

This milestone marks the first time a vessel from the Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO) has entered a US port under the flag of the independent Azerbaijani state, AzVision.az reports.

Mehman Mehdiyev, head of the ASCO press service, said that the Handysize type vessel "Khojaly" delivered 30.8 thousand tons of cement from the South Korean port of Bakpyung to Portland. The journey covered a distance of 8,390 kilometers over a span of 20 days.

Commissioned in China this May, "Khojaly" boasts a cargo capacity of 38,593 tons, a length of 180 meters, a width of 30 meters, a board height of 15 meters, a draft of 10.47 meters, and a maximum speed of 15.7 knots. Its shallow draft allows it to enter many shallow harbors with ease, making it a versatile addition to the ASCO fleet.

"Khojaly" is the first Handysize type vessel acquired under the Strategic Shipping Development Program adopted by the ASCO Supervisory Board, representing a significant step forward in the company's expansion and operational capabilities.
