EU diplomatic source confirmed the decision, AzVision.az reports citing Russian media.
"EU ambassadors have agreed on a new extension of EU economic sanctions against Russia for six months," the source stated. This decision is expected to be formally approved on July 22 during a meeting of EU foreign ministers.
The restrictive measures were last extended in late January, set to remain in place until July 31, 2024.
Sanctions imposed by the European Union against Russia are part of a broader strategy to respond to Russia's actions in Ukraine and Crimea, beginning with the annexation of Crimea in 2014.
