Azerbaijani and Romanian MFAs hold political consultations

Another round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Romania was held in Bucharest on July 16, the Azerbaijani ministry reported.

The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev, while the Romanian delegation was headed by State Secretary of the Romanian MFA Ana Cristina Tinca.

“During the political consultations, Azerbaijan and Romania discussed strengthening their strategic partnership as well as current and future cooperation in political, economic, energy, transport, and humanitarian areas, including within international organizations. They also reviewed strategic energy and transport projects initiated by or involving Azerbaijan.

The sides exchanged views on Azerbaijan's preparation for hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in November this year, highlighting its potential to enhance bilateral cooperation.

The meeting included detailed discussions on the post-conflict situation in the region, Azerbaijan's efforts to normalize relations with Armenia, steps towards achieving lasting peace, the issue of landmines in newly liberated Azerbaijani territories, and the extensive reconstruction and construction activities underway there.

The sides also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.

During the visit, Rzayev also held meetings with other Romanian officials and participated in an event attended by representatives from various think tanks," the statement reads.
