Weapons and ammunition have been discovered in the territories of Azerbaijan liberated from occupation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan told reporters.

From August 10 to 16, police officers found the following items in Khankendi city: eight automatic rifles, two pistols, eight rifles, 29 grenades, 24 igniters, two shells, 15 bayonet knives, 131 ammunition magazines, 3,480 cartridges of various calibers, and other ammunition.

In the Kalbajar district, authorities seized one automatic rifle, six grenades, one bayonet knife, four ammunition magazines, and 417 cartridges of different calibers. In the Khojaly district, they found one automatic rifle, one pistol, two rifles, three shells, and one grenade. The Jabrayil district yielded one automatic rifle, one pistol, two rifles, three ammunition magazines, and 30 cartridges of various calibers. In the Khojavand district, they discovered two automatic rifles, one bayonet knife, four ammunition magazines, and 102 cartridges of different calibers.

Following the liberation of its lands, Azerbaijan began operations in November 2020 to sweep its lands clean of mines, booby traps, and other weaponry that the illegal Armenian forces had left behind.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs keeps striving to make the recently liberated territories safe. Clearing ammunition and explosives is a top priority for internal affairs personnel as they continue their efforts to locate and neutralize threat sources and war remains.
