Borrell proposes EU sanctions on two Israeli ministers

The European Union's top diplomat, Josep Borrel, has put forward a proposal to the governments of the 27 EU member states to impose sanctions against Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, AzVision.az reports citing DPA news agency.

The move comes in response to recent statements made by the two politicians against Palestinians, which have sparked outrage in the international community. Under Borrell's proposal, sanctions could be imposed on Smotrich and Ben-Gvir for inciting hatred and violating human rights.

If the proposal is approved, the ministers' assets in the EU would be frozen, and they would no longer be permitted entry into the bloc. However, it remains unclear whether the proposal will be implemented and, if so, when.
