Nuran Niyazaliyev, head of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) observation mission, stated at a press conference on September 2 that the elections were conducted under free and transparent conditions. He noted that these elections represent a further step in Azerbaijan’s democratic development. Niyazaliyev expressed satisfaction with the voters’ engagement and the professionalism of the polling station staff, AzVision.az reports.

He also highlighted that the SCO had previously observed presidential elections in Azerbaijan, which provided the mission with a deep understanding of the election planning and voting procedures. He praised Azerbaijan for creating all necessary conditions for effective monitoring, ensuring that the elections were conducted at a high democratic standard.

Niyazaliyev added that the conditions provided for international observers and media representatives were also exemplary.

“We found no violations. Voters were able to freely choose their preferred candidates. We consider the elections to be transparent, democratic, and successful,” Niyazaliyev concluded.
