The deal was the outcome of more than six months of negotiations between Baghdad and Washington, AzVision.az reports citing Reuters.
The preliminary plan provides for the withdrawal of hundreds of troops by September 2025, and the rest by the end of 2026.
The parties are seeking to reach a deal under which some American troops will be able to remain in Iraq after the reduction in troop numbers.
According to the agency's interlocutors, the official announcement of the agreement was planned for several weeks ago, but was postponed due to the escalation in the Middle East and to clarify the remaining details.
