Anar Eyvazov: Armenian provocations necessitated conduct of anti-terror operation

“The provocations committed by Armenia from the time it signed the Trilateral Statement, which included the act of capitulation, until September 2023 necessitated the conduct of an anti-terror operation,” said Colonel Anar Eyvazov, Chief of the Department of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense, in an interview with the Ministry’s website on the occasion of the 1st anniversary of the successfully completed anti-terror operation.

“On September 19, civilians, police officers, and military personnel were killed and wounded as a result of the explosion of two vehicles belonging to the state bodies of our country by the intelligence-sabotage groups of the illegal Armenian armed detachments, falling into mines pre-installed on the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha highway.

According to the instructions of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief on ensuring the provisions of the Trilateral Statement, preventing large-scale provocations committed in the Karabakh economic region, disarming and withdrawing formations of the Armenian armed forces from our territories, neutralizing their military infrastructure, insuring safety of the civilian population returning to the liberated territories, as well as reconstruction and construction workers and military personnel and to restore the constitutional structure of the Republic of Azerbaijan, our Armed Forces conducted an anti-terror operation in the Karabakh economic region. Within the scope of the operation, the front-line and deep positions of the remnants of the Armenian armed forces and illegal Armenian armed detachments, long-term firing points, as well as combat vehicles and other legitimate military targets were destroyed by the use of high-precision weapons.

As a result of the disarmament of illegal armed detachments and the abolition of the separatist regime, Azerbaijan's sovereignty over the Karabakh economic region was fully restored,” Anar Eyvazov added.
