Azerbaijan unveils number of commissioned schools for new academic year

A total of 29 new schools have been commissioned for the new academic year in Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Science and Education Idris Isayev said during Knowledge Day at Secondary School No. 53 in Baku today, AzVision.az reports.

According to him, this year, for the first time, Knowledge Day is being celebrated in schools in the liberated Shusha, Khojaly, Khankendi cities, and Sus village of the Lachin district.

The deputy minister emphasized that over 133,000 students have started first grade in Azerbaijan this academic year.

"In the new academic year, 1,410 students are studying in schools in the liberated territories. Of these, 149 are first-grade students," he explained.

Isayev also noted that with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and through the Ministry of Science and Education, 80 percent of the schools have been renovated.

 

"In total, the construction of 83 schools continues, the design of 37 schools has been implemented, and more than 670 schools have been repaired," he added.
