Western Azerbaijan Community condemns Dutch Foreign Minister’s statement against Azerbaijan

“We condemn the statement by the Dutch Foreign Minister that Armenians were allegedly forced to leave the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. It is well known that the Armenians left the Karabakh region of their own free will, refusing to accept the Azerbaijani government's offer of reintegration and citizenship,” the Western Azerbaijan Community said in a statement.

“Furthermore, referring only to ethnic Armenians in such questions and ignoring the forced expulsion of Azerbaijanis from West Azerbaijan is a form of discrimination based on ethnicity and religion.

It is unacceptable that the Netherlands systematically makes unfounded claims against Azerbaijan. Instead of slandering Azerbaijan, the Netherlands should fulfil its obligations under the UN Charter to decolonise territories such as Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, Saba, Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten and put an end to the violation of the rights of the indigenous populations there.

The Netherlands, which violates the rights of the local population by refusing to carry out decolonization, has no moral right to talk about human rights and humanitarian issues.

We demand that the Netherlands stop its slanderous campaign against Azerbaijan and respect the right of Western Azerbaijanis to safe return,” the Community emphasized.
