Kamran Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General met Tuesday with a delegation led by Alex Florin Florența, Prosecutor General of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice of Romania.
Kamran Aliyev described Romania as Azerbaijan’s active partner in Europe, and one of the first countries recognizing Azerbaijan’s independence. The Azerbaijani Prosecutor General noted that significant events held over the past period contributed to furthering bilateral relations between the two countries across political, economic and other domains, elevating the Azerbaijan-Romania relations to the level of strategic partnership. He also hailed the successful cooperation between the two countries in energy, transport, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, culture and other spheres.
Kamran Aliyev briefed his Romanian counterpart about the large-scale reforms carried out in Azerbaijan’s prosecutorial bodies, stressing the role of prosecution authorities in the fight against crime in modern times and the importance of international cooperation in this field.
He stressed the historical importance of hosting the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Azerbaijan, inviting his Romanian counterpart to a high-level plenary meeting scheduled for November 15 in Baku, organized by Azerbaijan's Prosecutor General's Office and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on the margins of COP29.
He also lauded Romania’s participation at the 29th Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Prosecutors (IAP) in Baku, describing the event as a significant international platform in enhancing cooperation between the prosecutor bodies.
Alex Florin Florența commended reforms carried out in Azerbaijan’s prosecutorial bodies, expressing hope for the further successful development of relations between the two countries.
The meeting also saw the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prosecutor’s Office of the High Court of Cassation and Justice of the Republic of Romania, stipulating the strengthening of cooperation in the judicial sphere and increasing existing cooperation.
