The opening of the Zangezur corridor will create great opportunities for the Turkic world, the Chairman of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA) Numan Kurtulmuş said during a meeting in Geneva with Chairperson of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova, AzVision.az reports.

Congratulating on the holding of extraordinary elections to the Azerbaijani Parliament and the re-election of Sahiba Gafarova to the post of Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Numan Kurtulmuş expressed satisfaction with the successful development of brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye. Talking about the fact that both countries demonstrate a common position on all issues, the Chairman of the Turkish Parliament noted that new realities have emerged in the region after the 44-day Second Karabakh war, and in particular the large-scale construction and reconstruction works carried out in Karabakh and East Zangezur, and the opening of the Zangezur corridor will create great opportunities for the Turkic world.

Expressing gratitude for the congratulations, Speaker of Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova noted that the first to congratulate her on her re-election to this post was the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament. She thanked the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye for participating in the observation of the elections with the largest delegation.

Speaker Sahiba Gafarova emphasized that relations between the two brotherly countries, which have passed a grandiose way of development, guided by National Leader Heydar Aliyev's slogan "one nation, two states", have risen to the highest level today due to political will and joint efforts of the heads of state. It was noted that the two brotherly countries have a common position on all issues, including supporting each other in international organizations.

Furthermore, it was emphasized at the meeting that the existing high-level cooperation relations between the two countries are also developing in the parliamentary sphere, and the activities in this direction will continue in the coming years. The important contribution of the contacts between the presidents of the parliaments, friendship groups, and deputies from this point of view was appreciated, and the importance of the meetings held at the level of the parliaments was emphasized.

During the discussion, it was noted that both countries have set an agenda of peace and cooperation in the region. The meeting also highlighted the importance of joint activities of parliaments on multilateral platforms concerning climate change.

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
