  Azerbaijan, Chinese companies mull expanding green energy cooperation

Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, who is in China to participate in the 3rd Belt and Road Energy Ministerial Conference, had meetings with several local companies, AzVision.az reports, citing the Energy Ministry.

The minister’s meeting in Beijing with Lin Xiadon, Vice President of China Energy International Group Co., Ltd. discussed accelerating the implementation of 160 MW power plants, the company's involvement in offshore Wind Energy projects and green energy corridors, the local production of Renewable Energy installations, as well as cooperation in establishing a joint research and development center. They agreed to establish a Working Group and considered the proposal to sign a Memorandum of Understanding reflecting our new cooperation priorities.

Shahbazov was introduced to the experience and international activities of China Datang Corporation Limited with wide opportunities in the planning, design, construction, operation and financing of Renewable Energy projects in Beijing. Zou Lei, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, assessed the investment cooperation on solar power plants, onshore and offshore wind power plants, Energy Storage, and Green Hydrogen production projects, Shahbazov said on X. “In the near future, we agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Energy and the company.”

“At the meeting with Kai Song, President of Public Relations of Huawei in China, we reviewed the prospects for cooperation in the field of Green Energy with the company, which presents progressive technological solutions. In the context of Azerbaijan's implementation of green energy corridors and fiber-optic cable projects between Europe and Asia, we discussed the development of a renewable energy-based data center with Huawei,” the Azerbaijani energy minister said.
