Baku to host Summit of World Religious Leaders

The Summit of World Religious Leaders, initiated by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and co-organized by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the State Committee on Work with Religious Institutions, the International Muslim Council of Elders, the Caucasus Muslims Office, and the UN Environment Programme, will take place within the framework of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Baku on November 5-6, AzVision.az reports. 

The event will gather about 30 leaders of secular and traditional religions, heads of influential religious centers, including patriarchs, Vatican and Al-Azhar officials, and world-renowned religious and public figures representing various continents and faiths. In total, state, scientific, and religious representatives from 55 countries and 30 international organizations, along with media representatives, are expected to attend the summit.

This summit aims to contribute meaningfully to the moral discourse on climate change.
