Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency organizes media tour ahead of COP29

Ahead of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) organized a media tour on Saturday to showcase the city's transportation preparations for the event.

The tour included a ride aboard one of 160 new electric buses recently introduced to Baku. These buses will be monitored 24/7 by the Agency’s Monitoring Center to ensure smooth operations during the conference, AzVision.az reports.

Journalists were briefed on the Agency’s role in the COP29 preparations, including the establishment of a dedicated Headquarters designed to address issues promptly and facilitate efficient communication. The Agency is working closely with transport carriers to ensure the number of buses aligns with passenger demand, ensuring optimal service during the event.

Special express buses, H1 and H2, will provide direct transport from Heydar Aliyev International Airport to the "28 May" and "Ahmedli" subway stations throughout COP29. Additionally, the media toured TX5 electric taxis stationed at the airport, which are part of the city's broader push for greener transport solutions.

To streamline traffic flow and minimize disruptions during the conference, special traffic lanes have been set up across 26 major streets and avenues in Baku. These lanes will be restricted to conference-related vehicles, ensuring smoother transportation for delegates and participants.
