Azerbaijan, Armenia will resume discussions on peace treaty text next month: Presidential aide

“The meeting between Azerbaijan`s President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the BRICS summit in Kazan provided a positive momentum for continuing negotiations,” Hikmat Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, told TASS News Agency, AzVision.az reports.

"Mr. President and the Prime Minister of Armenia had a very fruitful meeting in Kazan. We intend to continue negotiations based on this momentum. Azerbaijan and Armenia will resume discussions on the text of the peace agreement next month as well,” Hikmat Hajiyev said on the sidelines of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29).

"Until the end of November, the focus of Azerbaijan's agenda will be the COP29 conference. "Perhaps, a new process will begin starting from December to discuss the text of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan and continue the negotiations," Hikmat Hajiyev underlined.

“There are certain questions about the text of the document. The discussions and negotiations are ongoing at the expert level, because the Armenian side did not respond in time to our proposals regarding the text of the peace agreement. Therefore, we feel that the process has been delayed in this context. Undoubtedly, a new process will start from December,” the Assistant to the President added.
