COP29 president: Expanding powers of law enforcement agencies to strengthen fight against eco-crimes

Increasing the authority of law enforcement agencies in climate change will bolster the fight against ecological crimes, Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev said during a high-level session titled “Mobilizing law enforcement in the fight against climate change,” AzVision.az reports.

According to Babayev, the role of law enforcement agencies was highly appreciated at COP28: "We are trying to continue this at COP29 as well. Our mission is clear: Take measures related to ecosystems, including environmental crimes, exposure of animals and marine life to climate change impacts, etc. Without law enforcement agencies, it will be difficult to protect our natural heritage."
