  Azerbaijan, Lithuania set to establish working group for developing tax cooperation

Azerbaijan and Lithuania have reached an agreement to establish a working group aimed at further developing cooperation in taxation, AzVision.az reports, citing the State Tax Service under the Economy Ministry of Azerbaijan.

In this context, Orkhan Nazarli, Head of the state service and President of the Intra-European Organization of Tax Administrations (IOTA), held a video conference with Edita Janušienė, the head of the State Tax Inspectorate under the Ministry of Finance of Lithuania.

The meeting highlighted the significance of initiatives and measures taken to expand relations between the two agencies, expressing satisfaction with the results achieved through the strengthening of mutual ties.

The parties discussed Azerbaijan's priorities during its presidency of IOTA and the opportunities for partnership in addressing the challenges faced by the organization. They reviewed proposals for improving IOTA's activities and shared their views on the role of effective mechanisms and fiscal instruments in supporting the initiatives of tax administrations.

It was noted that promoting fair economic practices, encouraging investments, and ensuring compliance with international standards are common commitments in the partnership between Azerbaijan and Lithuania. The meeting also covered priority areas of cooperation, efforts made in promoting international relations of tax authorities, and prospective projects.
