PM: 2024 marks historic highs for Azerbaijan on political stage

“2024 was a year of historic highs for Azerbaijan at the political level. The snap presidential elections on February 7 and the snap parliamentary elections for the seventh convocation of Milli Majlis on September 1 marked the first time in independent Azerbaijan’s history that elections were conducted across the entire sovereign territory of the country,” said Prime Minister Ali Asadov during his speech at the Milli Majlis plenary session on Monday, AzVision.az reports.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the outcomes of the presidential and parliamentary elections reflected the trust and confidence of the Azerbaijani people in President Ilham Aliyev's successful and purposeful policies, which have paved the way for significant victories.

PM Asadov also referenced the 30th anniversary of the "Contract of the Century" on September 20, calling it a pivotal milestone in the oil strategy crafted by National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Highlighting Azerbaijan’s five national priorities for socio-economic development through 2030, with a focus on the "Country of Clean Environment and Green Growth," Ali Asadov noted the significance of 2024 being declared the "Green World Solidarity Year" by presidential decree.

“Today, we proudly proclaim that COP29, one of the most prestigious international events in the world, was successfully hosted in Azerbaijan, a first for the region,” he added.
