  Azerbaijani, Turkish FMs hold phone talk

On December 27, 2024, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan.

During the call, the ministers discussed matters of regional and international security, as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation, AzVision.az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry. 

Minister Hakan Fidan expressed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Turkish state and people in connection with the tragic crash of a passenger plane near the city of Aktau while operating the Baku-Grozny flight. He honored the memory of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. Fidan emphasized that Türkiye always stands in solidarity with its brotherly Azerbaijan and is ready to provide any possible support.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov expressed gratitude for the condolences and the constant support and solidarity shown by Türkiye. He informed that the investigation into the causes of the plane crash is under the direct control of the country's leadership, and a state commission has been established for this purpose. Bayramov provided an update on the work carried out so far.

The parties also discussed the current situation in the Middle East, including the situation around Syria. Azerbaijan's intention to provide humanitarian assistance to Syria was also discussed.

During the phone conversation, the prospects and plans for cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States were also considered. The ministers exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
