In alignment with the plan approved by the Minister of Defense, the Azerbaijan Army commemorated the 20 January, National Mourning Day, with a series of events aimed at educating personnel and fostering patriotism, the Ministry of Defense reported.
With regard to the 35th anniversary of the tragedy on January 20, at 12:00, to honor the memory of the Martyrs a minute of silence was observed in all types of troops, Combined Arms Army, army corps, formations and special educational institutions of the Azerbaijan Army.
As part of the commemoration, military personnel visited the Alleys of Martyrs. Additionally, military units, institutions and organizations organized screenings of documentaries and videos, as well as exhibitions of books dedicated to the 20 January Tragedy.
The ceremonies emphasized the historical significance of the 20 January Tragedy, a deliberate act of aggression against the Azerbaijani people.
Speakers also highlighted the efforts of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev, in raising global awareness of these tragic events.
Participants shared their memories on heroism demonstrated by Azerbaijanis during the period of the nation's struggle for independence.
