"We can only take goods up to the border. Then, it is for Nepalese authorities to ensure goods can enter Nepal... 4,000 Indian trucks are waiting at the border due to security issues," said External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup.
Long lines of trucks, extending as far as 10 kilometres, have been stranded on the Indian side of the border for over five days due to the ongoing blockade imposed by protesters.
Manu in Nepal have accused India of violating international laws by halting cross-border trade. "We are not getting fuel, cooking gas and vegetables from India and we don`t want such kind of friendship," said KP Oli, chief of the ruling UML party, who is tipped to be the next prime minister.
