Discussed during the meeting were various topics of cooperation within the framework of the Caspian European Club and Caspian Energy International Media Group as well as possibilities of expansion of contacts on the level of business communities of Azerbaijan and Latvia, EU on the whole. Yuris Maklakovs emphasized big opportunities for investment and business cooperation in the agriculture, food industry, production field, technologies as well as the expansion of transport communications of Azerbaijan and Latvia, which bring the Caspian and Baltic regions much closer to each other.

The Ambassador expressed an interest in publication of articles and interviews about the economy of EU and Latvia, in general, on pages of Caspian Energy.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Azerbaijan Yuris Maklakovs gave an exclusive interview to Caspian Energy. Speaking about new opportunities of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Latvia, Ambassador Yuris Maklakovs emphasized in his interview with Caspian Energy: “We are not satisfied with current indicators of the goods turnover since they can be much better. At present the turnover of goods between Azerbaijan and Latvia totals $27-28mln. Basically, it is an export from Latvia. I think there is a big potential for further development between our countries.

During the interview Ambassador Yuris Maklakovs touched the possibilities of expansion of the economic cooperation, spoke about prospects of development of the Baltic energy market and touched the issues of integration of transport routes, migration and development of the energy cooperation.
