In his message marking 8 March – International Women’s Day, President Ilham Aliyev praised the vital role Azerbaijani women have played throughout history, describing them as the moral backbone of society and guardians of cultural and spiritual heritage.
The President highlighted that Azerbaijani women earned the right to vote and run for office earlier than women in many leading nations — a landmark achievement in the country’s modern history. He also commended their pioneering contributions in fields like culture, science, education, and healthcare, particularly in the Muslim East.
President Aliyev stressed that today’s young Azerbaijani women continue to honour these traditions, embracing values passed down through generations while excelling in their professional fields.
He further acknowledged the significant contributions of women to nation-building, economic progress, and cultural development, emphasizing their dedication to strengthening the country and improving the well-being of its people.
According to the President, Azerbaijani women, known for their deep commitment to family values, remain influential figures in the country’s public life. Expressing confidence in their continued contributions, he underlined their role in shaping future generations and enriching the country’s social and cultural landscape.
