Azerbaijan, North Macedonia explore co-op in fighting cybercrime

Azerbaijan and North Macedonia have discussed cooperation in combating cybercrime, AzVision.az reports.

The discussions were conducted during the meeting of Azerbaijan's Minister of Internal Affairs (MIA), Colonel-General Vilayat Eyvazov, and his North Macedonian counterpart Panche Toshkovski.

Eyvazov informed the other party about the functions, duties, and activities of Azerbaijan’s MIA, the current criminogenic situation, protection of human rights, and work done in ensuring citizen satisfaction.

The minister highlighted that the fight against major types of transnational organized crime, including illegal drug trafficking, international terrorism, human trafficking, illegal migration, and cybercrime, remains in focus, and that effective combat against these is only possible through joint efforts.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the areas of cooperation in fighting cybercrime, exchange of experience, and matters of mutual interest.

Toshkovski, in turn, expressed his organization's interest in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan's MIA, including learning from advanced experiences in fighting crime and ensuring public order.

On March 9, North Macedonia's Minister of Internal Affairs Panche Toshkovski arrived in Azerbaijan for an official visit.
