Azerbaijan rejects unfounded allegations by French Minister Manuel Valls

Aykhan Hajizada, Spokesperson for Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has responded to recent claims made by Manuel Valls, France's Minister of the Overseas, in an interview with BFM TV.

"We strongly reject the repeated and unfounded allegations against Azerbaijan, which seem to be part of France’s ongoing attempt to divert attention from its own failures in the overseas territories and its colonial legacy," Hajizada stated.

"Minister Valls’ comments, describing France as a global power spanning 'three oceans and five continents,' reflect a colonial mindset that fails to recognize the changing global landscape and the loss of influence in various regions," he added.

Hajizada further criticized Valls for promoting double standards, highlighting France's suppression of independence movements in its overseas territories, and the inconsistency between France's actions and its claims of supporting freedom and independence.

"We urge France to stop its unfounded criticism of Azerbaijan and focus on addressing its own internal challenges," concluded the spokesperson.
