Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Sahiba Gafarova met with her Georgian counterpart, Shalva Papuashvili, in Tbilisi to discuss bilateral ties and regional cooperation.
Chairman Papuashvili reflected on his past visits to Azerbaijan, emphasizing the strong partnership fostered through regular high-level exchanges. He also expressed gratitude for Azerbaijan’s continued support to Georgia.
Speaker Gafarova congratulated Papuashvili on his re-election and highlighted the deep-rooted friendship between Azerbaijan and Georgia, shaped by centuries of neighborly ties. She echoed President Ilham Aliyev’s view that the strong political relations between the two nations serve as a model for the region.
Both leaders underscored the significance of the Azerbaijani-Georgian strategic partnership, which has paved the way for major energy and transport projects benefiting both nations and contributing to regional stability. They also reaffirmed the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations.
Their discussions also touched on regional developments, the need to ensure lasting peace and stability, and other matters of mutual interest.
