  Azerbaijan, Iran hold consular consultations

Consular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and Iran were held in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, while the Iranian delegation was led by Mojtaba Shasti Karimi, Director General of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, AzVision.az reports, citing Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.

The event was also attended by staff of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran and the Consulate General in Tabriz, officials from the foreign ministries of both countries, as well as representatives from the Ministries of Justice, Interior, migration and border services of the two countries.

During the consultations, the parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in the consular field.

Discussions were held on the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of both countries, the provision of prompt and effective consular and legal assistance, and an agreement was reached to intensify cooperation to resolve existing issues.

There was also an exchange of views on bilateral cooperation between the interior ministries, justice departments, migration, border, and customs services, with an emphasis on the importance of joint efforts to strengthen ties in the relevant areas.

As part of the consultations, the Azerbaijani delegation was also received by Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Vahid Jalalzadeh.
