Speaking at the forum, Yusifova emphasised that the event focuses on practical strategies and joint cooperation to safeguard the rich and diverse cultural heritage threatened by conflict, AzVision.az reports, citing Caliber.az.
“The forum will bring together representatives from across the Islamic world to assess the scale of damage inflicted on cultural heritage during periods of armed conflict, strengthen protection measures for conflict-affected sites, and ensure the preservation of our history, art, and identity for future generations,” she stated.
Yusifova also highlighted the forum’s role in encouraging the exchange of best practices in the protection, restoration, and revitalisation of cultural heritage. “The forum will also discuss sharing best practices in protecting, restoring, and revitalising cultural heritage, promoting stronger legal frameworks to protect cultural heritage in conflict situations, and developing sustainable strategies for future generations,” she added.
The international event, organised in the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, brings together government officials, experts, and representatives of the media. Among the attendees are Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavand districts; Aydin Karimov, Special Representative in the Shusha district; and Deputy Minister of Culture Farid Jafarli.
The forum’s program includes panel discussions centred on preserving and restoring cultural heritage in post-conflict settings, with a focus on collaborative approaches and legal and institutional frameworks necessary for long-term protection.
