The meeting aims to strengthen cooperation among Turkic states in the space sector and promote regional innovation and scientific-technical partnerships. The growing cooperation within the OTS and the unity of Turkic states in the space domain reflect not only shared cultural ties but also strategic interests in the modern era. This partnership contributes to the region’s technological independence and enables a more active role in the global space agenda.
Key issues discussed during the meeting included:
Joint CubeSat Project: This satellite initiative, to be implemented within the OTS framework, will enhance the exchange of technical expertise among member countries and contribute to combating climate change by monitoring greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane.
Standardization of the Legal Framework in the Space Sector: Proposed by Azerbaijan, this initiative aims to facilitate future joint projects by establishing a common legal foundation. The model to be adopted will align with international space treaties of the United Nations.
Establishment of a Virtual Space Academy: This digital platform, to be developed with the participation of 21 leading universities, will provide broader educational opportunities for young talents in the region and strengthen Azerbaijan's position as a future hub for space education and innovation.
