  Azerbaijan explores implementation of green, efficient technologies in liberated territories

Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry hosted the 9th meeting of the Working Group on coordination and monitoring of the implementation of green technologies and energy efficiency requirements in the country’s liberated territories, AzVision.az reports, citing the ministry.

Speaking at the meeting, Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Energy Minister and Chairman of the Working Group, highlighted the restoration, reconstruction, and development measures carried out in the country’s liberated territories under the instruction of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Shahbazov emphasized the special importance given to the implementation of the green energy zone concept.

The expansion of the implementation of a modern approach that ensures energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy in these areas was positively assessed. It was noted that the construction of solar, wind, and hydroelectric power plants here will contribute to the development of Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur as a green energy zone.

The Secretariat of the Working Group presented an update on the work done to implement the decisions made at the previous meeting. Information was also provided on the results of monitoring carried out during the current year in 11 cities and villages of Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur.

Indicators reflecting the current state of installation of solar panels and collectors, LED-based lighting devices, electric charging stations, smart benches, as well as the use of thermal insulation materials and energy-saving lamps were brought to attention. The presentation on the Implementation Mechanism for the installation of rooftop solar panels in private residential houses and administrative-public buildings discussed technical criteria, implementation stages, and opportunities for project expansion.

An exchange of views was held on the energy supply of boiler houses in the city of Shusha, and future steps in this direction were reviewed.

Along with state agencies included in the Working Group, the meeting was attended by representatives of the Special Representatives of the President of Azerbaijan in the liberated territories and Restoration Construction and Management Service public legal entities, as well as the Shusha City State Reserve Administration, Azeristiliktechizat OJSC, and the Social Development Fund for IDPs.
