During the meeting with Mukhtar Babayev, Representative of the President of Azerbaijan on Climate Issues and President of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Prime Minister of Nepal discussed the climate change challenges facing mountainous regions. Both sides emphasized that the commitments made at COP29 would be accompanied by tangible progress for developing countries.
The COP29 Presidency expressed gratitude to the government of Nepal for hosting the "Sagarmatha Sambaad" to address these critical issues.
Nepal hosted the first international climate summit, Sagarmatha Sambaad, under the theme “Climate Change, Mountains, and the Future of Humanity,” in Kathmandu from May 16–18.
