Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia explore cooperation in hydrocarbon sector

Parviz Shahbazov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy, met with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud, on the margins of the 9th International Seminar of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in Vienna, Austria.

During the meeting, the discussions focused on energy cooperation in bilateral and OPEC+ formats. The ministers reviewed the preparations for the upcoming 4th meeting of the Joint Technical Commission between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia, and cooperation between the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and Saudi companies in the hydrocarbon sector.

They also discussed the ongoing joint green energy projects, the commissioning of the Khizi-Absheron 240 MW Wind Power Plant in the fourth quarter of this year, and the implementation of 3.5 GW offshore wind projects involving SOCAR Green, ACWA Power, and Masdar.
