Azerbaijan fall 3-1 to France to conclude 2026 World Cup qualifying

Azerbaijan ended their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign with a 3-1 home defeat to France, AzVision.az reports.

Renat Dadashov gave Azerbaijan an early lead in the 4th minute, but France responded with goals from Jean-Philippe Mateta (17'), Akliouche (30'), and an own goal by Shahruddin Mahammadaliyev (45') to take control of the match.

France finished atop Group D with 16 points, while Azerbaijan ended the campaign at the bottom with just one point.
