French police in Paris protest - VIDEO
French police have taken to streets of Paris to protest over a lack of resources, rising levels of violence and a malfunctioning judicial system.
The police were lauded in January following the attacks on Charlie Hebdo, but now morale is low.

The demonstration was prompted after an officer suffered head wounds after being shot by a prisoner on temporary release earlier this month.

Jean-Claude Delage is secretary general the Alliance union: “We feel we have been forgotten by the Republic. Since the January attacks there has been a lot of fine words touching and appreciated, but little action. So today we demand action on the future of policing and reforms to the criminal justice act.”

On the eve of the protest French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve addressed police officers and vowed to rectify any grievances.

Cazeneuve said he had nothing to gain from a standoff with police or the justice system.
