Azerbaijan will continue to fight international terrorism
Azerbaijan will continue to make every effort to fight international terrorism.

"I would like to touch upon two or three topics in my speech. Trade turnover between the CIS countries fell. Taking into account the specific processes that occur in the world, there are, of course, objective factors.

Many of the national currencies of the CIS member states lost their power. Since we are doing the calculations in dollars, of course, it is reflected with a minus sign immediately in the statistics. So also I would like to join Vladimir Putin’s idea on the investigation of transition to national currencies in calculations.

This will allow us to avoid certain financial risks, which are not related to our business and will strengthen our national currencies and advance economic integration further. The search for new forms of cooperation in the economic sphere, as well as new forms of strengthening the new economic model, especially in countries rich in natural resources is, of course, on the agenda of our countries. And I think that we can conduct more active consultations, exchange of views and experiences in order to minimize the risks that have arisen," said President Ilham Aliyev.

President Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is actively involved in transport security issues: "We invite all the CIS countries to join the initiative that we put forward. In August of this year the first container train from China through Kazakhstan to Azerbaijan has been received and this is a good sign that the East-West corridor begins to take a new shape. This corridor is of great geopolitical importance and, of course, provide an opportunity for closer integration of the countries located along and near this transport route. "

The President noted that Azerbaijan is actively working on the project of North-South corridor and, first of all, with the Russian Federation and Iran: “Serious agreements have been reached, concrete decisions were made to accelerate the connection of our railways.

The project promises huge financial profits. And this highway is the most convenient and the shortest route linking the huge markets of China, India, Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia and Europe. I would also like to inform you about it and invite our partner countries to join the project. Participation can be different – investment, the provision of goods. I think that we can work together in this direction. If you have any desire for investment, we will welcome it. If not, we can work together to mobilize potential new goods, so that this highway fully started in the next couple of years. "

President Aliyev also touched upon the issue of strengthening security in the region: "No country in the world can feel completely safe without all-sided cooperation of the international community in the fight against terrorism. Therefore, the fight against international terrorism should be a priority at this stage for all countries, and we can achieve our goals only through joint efforts.

Of course, it is necessary to work towards minimizing risks, as well as an investigation to identify the causes that give rise to international terrorism. Of course, there are huge external causes, certain terrorist groups are funded. But there are also internal reasons. Internal reasons are poverty, illiteracy, backwardness, radicalism, fundamentalism, social injustice. If there are not these objective reasons in a country, to create a nurturing ground for terrorism will be very difficult despite all the efforts by external forces.

Therefore, joint efforts to resolve the issues of socio-economic, strengthening security, the fight against terrorism are now a major agenda of our countries. We want to live in peace and harmony with the region, we want to develop, we want children to grow up literate, educated, healthy. For this, we need security. Therefore, Azerbaijan will continue to make every effort to fight international terrorism."
