Thousands of Chinese citizens in areas of Foshan and Jiangxi noticed a mysterious city floating in the clouds for a couple of minutes before completely disappearing from sight. The skyline appeared to have a clear cityscape, with towering skyscrapers - a sight that bewildered many.
A resident managed to capture the anomaly on camera. The video, with over 4.1 million views on YouTube, was posted on October 13 and has caused quite a stir on social media. While some suggest the apparition proves the existence of a parallel universe, others contend that it was the result of a "project blue beam test" - a conspiracy theory that claims NASA is attempting to implement a New Age religion.
"It is possible, considering China`s technological achievements that a top secret holographic technology was tested over a heavily populated city in an effort to gauge the general public`s reaction," says Paranormal Crucible, the YouTube channel that uploaded the video.
The most likely reason for the apparition however seems to be that it was a phenomenon called Fata Morgana, a mirage consisting of multiple images, such as cliffs and buildings, that are distorted and magnified to resemble elaborate castles. In simple words it is a kind of illusion and has been seen in other parts of the world as well.
