NATO is holding regular consultations with Ankara on the issue of Turkey
The spokesperson said the Alliance, as before, stands ready to defend Turkey from any threats.

The spokesperson further noted that NATO is ready to stand up for all its member countries.

Earlier, a shootout took place in Turkish province of Diyarbakir between the militants of the terrorist organization “Islamic State” and the local police.

A similar incident occurred Oct. 27 in the central Turkish province of Konya.

In late June last year, the “Islamic State” announced the creation of “Islamic caliphate” in the areas under its control in Iraq and Syria.

Previously, Ankara repeatedly said that the terrorist organization “Islamic State” is a serious threat for Turkey, and all countries must work together to combat global terrorism.
