Samad Seyidov accuses organization of pursuing policy of double standards
“Armenia has been occupying 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory for over 20 years, but the Council of Europe doesn’t not event want to hear about the imposition of sanctions against this country”.

Speaking of the Russian aggressive policy, members of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE stressed that along with Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova, Azerbaijan suffered aggression, APA’s Europe correspondent reports. As for the occupation of Crimea by Russia, MP Vladimir Pilipenko said: “First it was Azerbaijan, then Georgia and now Russia has started occupying Ukrainian territory. Which country will be next if we don’t stop Russia?..”

Addressing the discussions, head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov accused the Council of Europe of pursuing a policy of double standards: “I have repeatedly said and now say that I see double-standard approach. Armenia has been occupying 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory for over 20 years, we have repeatedly raised this issue at the Council of Europe and demanded the imposition of sanctions against the Armenian occupation. But no one listened to us. Now we want to introduce sanctions against Russia, but how is it that one member state has kept under occupation the territory of another member state and the Council of Europe doesn’t want to hear about any sanctions? If we want to preserve the values in Europe and in our organization, we have to go back to the times when Armenia occupied Azerbaijani territories and impose sanctions against this aggressive policy.”

Head of the Armenian delegation to PACE opposed the imposition of sanctions against Russia.
