President Ilham Aliyev says ODIHR
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has received Chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Slutsky.

The State Duma official said observation missions from different countries and organizations are monitoring the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan.

Slutsky said he heads the mission of observers of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly and the mission of observers from the Russian State Duma, noting that since August, they have been conducting monitoring in connection with the preparations for elections in Azerbaijan.

Slutsky said they observed the voting process in several polling stations and in contrast to the predictions of some Western circles, no violation of law has been detected, on the other hand, compared to previous elections, they witnessed great progress.

With regard to the refusal of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) to observe the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan, Slutsky said that from the political point of view, the organization, with this decision, has shown Europe that as an institution its time is up.

President Ilham Aliyev in his turn said the OSCE/ODIHR has no right to independently pass a decision on refusal to observe the elections, noting that this organization has breached all the rules and regulations.

“ODIHR’s duty is to observe the elections. As you know, we had invited them and asked to make explanation about the methodology of determining the number of observers in different countries. Instead of replying to us, they even refused to send observer,” President Aliyev said, noting that such actions are unacceptable.
