European observers detect no interference with election process
No cases of interference of local bodies and police with the voting process have been detected at the recent parliamentary election in Azerbaijan, the head of the European People`s Party group (EPP Group) Thierry Mariani said.
He made the remarks Nov. 2 at a press conference in Baku on the results of the parliamentary election.

He said that the monitoring group has come to the conclusion that the parliamentary election fully complied with international and democratic standards.

Azerbaijan’s Central Election Commission (CEC) announced the results of the voting at the Azerbaijani parliamentary election held Nov. 1.

The election was declared valid at all the polling stations, and the voter turnout at the election was 55.7 percent. Over 2.89 million voters cast their ballots during the election, which is six percent more than in the previous election.

The names of leading candidates in all 125 constituencies were announced Nov.1.
