The Russian minister thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart for the support provided to Moscow State University’s branch in Baku and for the opening of a branch of the First Moscow Medical University named after Sechenov.
D.Livanov stressed that education is one of the main areas of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia.
The ministers also discussed the issue of Azerbaijani citizens’ education in Russian universities. It was noted that in the academic year 2015-2016, 208 citizens of Azerbaijan entered Russian high schools.
D. Livanov said that the Ministry of Education of Russia traditionally assists Azerbaijan in the training of personnel for priority specialties.
Given the interaction between the educational institutions of Russia and Azerbaijan, the sides reached an agreement on the establishment of the Russia-Azerbaijan Association of Higher Education Institutions.
