On Nov.4, an official welcoming ceremony was held for a delegation led by Azerbaijani Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, who is an official visit to Kazakhstan.

The Azerbaijani delegation was welcomed by Kazakh Defense Minister Imangali Tasmagambetov, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry told.

The ministers held a one-on-one meeting after the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan were played.

Later on, the ministers held an expanded meeting with the participation of the Azerbaijani and Kazakh delegations.

The peoples of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan share a common history and culture, the parties said, noting that the relations between the two countries are of strategic importance.

The parties noted that the cooperation between the two countries is developing both in bilateral format and within international and regional organizations.

The Kazakh defense minister noted the importance of establishing practical relations between the naval forces of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan.

“Practical relations between the two countries will strengthen neighborly relations in the Caspian Sea and strengthen security. This corresponds to the agreements the leaders of the Caspian littoral states reached at high-level meetings,” Tasmagambetov noted.

Zakir Hasanov said that Azerbaijan is ready to hold joint drills with Kazakhstan, because it has experience of holding exercises and competitions jointly with Kazakhstan.

“Such events will pave the way for the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan to acquire mutual experience,” he stressed.
