Large Brawl Erupts in Belgian Refugee Center
A large-scale brawl involving up to 70 people took place in a refugee center in the Belgian province of Antwerp, local media reported Wednesday.
According to the Belga news agency, a quarrel between asylum seekers turned into a fistfight, and likely was the reason for the incident.

None of those involved in the clash received serious injuries. Six people have been detained for instigating the fight.

In early October, a large brawl occurred in a refugee center in the Belgian region of Wallonia. Participants of the fight caused damage to the premises, and several refugees were injured.

Belgium’s migration authority had received over 22,600 asylum requests this year by late September. The majority of arrivals come from the Middle East and Africa, at an average rate of 4,000 to 5,000 a month. The country`s government intends to increase the number of spaces in its temporary asylum centers to 36,000 from the current 23,000.
