Azerbaijani diplomat appointed OIC permanent representative to EU
Ambassador at Large Akshin Mehdiyev of Azerbaijan has been appointed the permanent representative of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to the European Union after his nomination by the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan, the ministry’s press service told on Thursday.

Akshin Mehtiyev’s nomination to this post has been approved by the OIC General Secretariat.

Mehdiyev will assume office on December 1, 2015.

Previously, he was the permanent representative of Azerbaijan to the Council of Europe (2001-2006) and the United Nations (2006 to 2014).

Arif Mammadov was recalled from the post of the OIC permanent representative to the EU.
