The first ever bilingual English-Azerbaijani children
Based on the Oxford Junior Illustrated Dictionary, the new dictionary uses bright illustrations, photographs, and diagrams to enhance language learning. It includes translations of headwords, example sentences in both English and Azerbaijani, and interpretations of common expressions—making it easy for readers to understand entries.
The dictionary was launched in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and was attended by representatives of Ministry of Education, the National Academy of Science, and Headmasters of the country`s most prestigious schools.
Vineeta Gupta, Children’s Dictionaries Publisher for OUP, said: “This is the first bilingual English-Azerbaijani children’s dictionary available. We are very happy to support 1001 Kitab on its development, and are pleased with their highly professional work.”
The launch marks the start of a collaborative project between OUP and 1001 Kitab which will see the publication of more bilingual English-Azerbaijani editions of the Press’s children`s dictionaries.
